Firstly you will need a set of tools to ply your trade. You might think you're a good enough mechanic to get by without these bare necessities but will soon find yourself without the ability to manipulate the complex machinery of our world. The most basic of toolkits are likely available at your local hardware store.
- Toolkits: Tool kits range from a bag containing mismatched, cobbled together hand tools up to arm length exoskeletal frameworks containing the most advanced tools available.
- Cyberware: These toolkits contain fully enclosed, portable and concealable tool systems directly linked to your nervous system. They come in two formats - a forearm replacement containing a medium quality set of tools that will provide you with the almost everything you might need or a full arm replacement containing a comprehensive array of highly advanced tools without the pesky issues of the brain tool interface known as 'hands'.
- Garages & Repair Bays: Virtually everything you would do regarding repair and upgrade of vehicles or security pods will require heavy machinery only available in purpose built facilities such as garages and repair bays.
Commands require the relevant tools and usually require access to complex machinery only found in a garage or repair bay. Mechanics can repair a range of complex machinery including motorcycles, ground vehicles, air vehicles and weapons pods.
The success of your work will depend on the complexity of the task, your characters capabilities, the quality of toolkit available, and the quality of the facility you are operating in. You can gauge the quality of a facility you are standing in by using
inspect here with more advanced facilities having a wider range of machinery available.
repair/fix <vehicle> -- Attempts to knock out basic dents in the body work and perform maintenance. repair/fix <vehicle> with <part> -- More severe damage requires replacement engine parts or basic body panels. install <system> on <vehicle> -- Attempts to install a component or system onto the vehicle. uninstall/deinstall/remove <system> from <vehicle> -- Attempts to uninstall a component or system from the vehicle. reload/load <vehicle> with <ammo> -- Loads an ammunition belt or other heavy ammunition into the mounted weapons system.

Vehicle components are crucial for the repair, upkeep and style of any ride. Any vehicle mods or repairs require a set of appropriate tools, and toolkit quality factors heavily along with mechanical skills to ensure success. Without good tools or skills, progress will be slow with shoddy, unreliable results. Some quick fixes can be done right on the street, but long-term installs require the use of a garage facility. For major repairs or mods, a well-stocked overhaul facility is best, and a trained eye often inspects a garage to gauge its quality before beginning work.

Vehicle security systems are the bane of many thieves, while the saviour of many owners. They are offered in several formats from the most basic biometric locking systems through to overt deterrence, owner alert systems and active offensive countermeasure deployment.

|The ubiquitous car alarm combines security circuits with an obnoxious siren or warning voice-chip.

A variety of sensors and displays are available. Most instrumentation has electronic uplink connectors capable of controlling a vehicle's weapon system. With all weapon instrumentation and targeting systems, the assistance of a dedicated gunner eases workload and speeds up the process of spotting, aiming, and firing.

Vehicle weaponry often features adaptations of heavy infantry weapons mounted on servo turrets or similar armatures. The heaviest mounts require multi-stage installation, where the mechanic assembles several modules before attaching the completed system to the vehicle. All vehicle weapon setups require a fire control system, usually in the form of a weapon console or radar/laser sight for target acquisition and designation.
